Where Do You Go To My Lovely?

  • Mar 19, 2008
  • Post a comment

This seems to happen to me a lot with Vox.  I had an entire post done and ready

Where Do You Go To My Lovely - Peter Sarstedt
to go and then it just dissapeared for no reason.  I tried that "Recover" thing they have, but it didn't do anything. Soo, I have a new post that has absolutely nothing to do with the video I added because I don't remember how I wrote it or exactly what it was about...so thewhole thing just seems kinda pointless.  One thing you should know though:  I love this song. I can listen to it over and over and over and over again... and I have.  It's perfect for afternoons of reading and baking, when you want to look out the window and see another staring right back at you, the surrounding bricks weathered and black around the edges from hundreds of years of smog and dirt and speeding, whispy city wind.  This is a timeless song; I listen to it in Richmond and imagine myself in London doing the same thing.  I don't know.  It just works.
The Darjeeling Limited
The Darjeeling Limited

Btw, this song is on The Darjeeling Limited, the latest Wes Anderson movie, I definitely recommend that anyone bothering to read this actually do something nice for themselves and check it out.  It's pretty good... I actually like it better than The Life Aquatic... and it reignited my love for this song.

A Year & 1/2 Later... I've Become Nocturnal

and apparently it's from stress or something like that. I don't feel that bad though. I have been biting all the skin off from around my nails until they bleed - my fingertips always ache. I sleep about 4 hours a day (typically about 7am to 11am) - yesterday my mom dropped by and gave me benadryl... made me take two... I slept from 11pm to 2pm this afternoon. I don't eat - I don't have enough money for food since I don't have a job anymore and can't seem to find one. I don't know how I'm going to pay my rent. During the day, to keep from falling asleep, I'm typically super awake because I take adderall - over the amount I'm prescribed usually... because I don't want to fall asleep prematurely. Even though I can feel that the medicine has left my system, at night I cannot sleep. I just lay down and yawn with my eyes wide open and think about something ridiculous - like Smallville maybe. Then I'll get up and watch tv. Then try to sleep again. Then get up and watch more tv. Then smoke a cigarette. Then try to sleep.

Vicious. Vicious. You'd think I'd be miserable, but I'm not. I told my mom the other day that I've pretty much crashed and burned trying out this "adult" thing. I think completely letting my stress fuck up my body instead of my mind has kept my mood pretty balanced and normal-like.

I have been watching cnn like crazy... keeping up with the primaries, getting my friends to register and to vote, volunteering for Barack Obama, researching candidates positions and voting record for various issues, and generally just wasting my time with this damn election. Even if I have no job and no money, I still have rights... its one thing I'll never take for granted and always use (I still want more though :D). I've also developed an unhealthy obsession with online blogs following the election. It made me realize just how much I've neglected this journal.

Elias is broken. Don't know why; he just is. You may now officially call me "The Ipod Murderer." I've switched to cds since I don't have a car and can't go to the apple store. :( I can only take so much of the limited about of music I used to listen to (until I discovered downloading) before I go crazy.

February has been a month of:
- Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Fever to Tell"
- Fiona Apple "Tidal" & "When the Pawn..."
- Any Malcolm X speeches/interviews I can find
- Watts Prophets
- Last Poets
- Barack Obama
- Smallville (um, I definitely watched every episode in the first four seasons this month... since those are the only seasons I own)
- Excessive alcohol consumption
- Britney Spears drama (why?)
- adderall
- padme
- dancing movies (step up, flashdance, footloose, stomp the yard, take the lead, etc)
- spaghetti (its cheap)
- siouxsie sioux and robert smith (I tell them goodnight every night)
- buying cigarettes over food
- general fatigue
- feminism and black power
- and last but not least, lots of incense

QotD: Easy Like Sunday Morning

What do you usually do on Sunday?

I usually work and yesterday was no exception.  I no longer look forward to weekends.  Wow, that sounds kinda sad.  I'm really not as depressed about it as that last sentence made it seem.

QotD: Weekend Goal

What's one thing that you'd like to get done this weekend? Is there anything holding you back?

I'd really, really, really like to go to a bunch of garage and estate sales this weekend, but I work on Saturday and that's when most people have yard sales.  Sunday yard sales (the few that exist) are nothing more than leftovers from the day before.  King's Dominion is holding me back.

Look at young Zach Braff in an episode of The Babysitter's Club.  It's too cheesy not to love it.

Dawn Saves the Trees--with Zach Braff

I loved the early 90's.  haha

I'm a fan of cheesy early 90's pop music and traveling somewhere far away.  Both at the same time would be amazing.

QotD: Can you hear me now?

What's your cell phone's ringtone? What made you pick it?

My current ringtone is "Dirt off Your Shoulder" by Jay-Z.  I don't exactly know why I chose it, but I know that after years of having crappy, "bloopity bloop" phones, I had to find the perfect ringtone.  It couldn't be just anything.  For some reason Jay-Z just struck me and I had to have it.  It was the first ringtone I've ever bought.  Since then I've bought "Manha de Carnaval" by Astrid Gilberto (which everyone says is creepy), "No Hay Igual" by Nelly Furtado, "The Internet is for Porn, and "If you were gay" from Avenue Q.  Although I'm not as bad as some people, I could be a ringtone addict.

Ultraviolet (Unrated, Extended Cut)
Ultraviolet (Unrated, Extended Cut)

I had an entire post about my bad week and how Ultraviolet fixed all my problems last night, but I made a big mistake and lost the entire thing.

Anyway, she did not dissapoint.  This movie was everything that I expected and hoped (especially since I didn't expect much).  It had that strange kid in it that I see everywhere.  You know which one I'm talking about.  He always has something

wrong with him or he can kill an entire race of people with

Dummy
Dummy

his dna or something

like that.  He was in X 3 as the boy that could "cure" the mutants.  He basically had the exact same role here.

I would say the only reason you should watch this movie is if you are in love with Milla Jovovich (as I am) although I'm definitely not going to buy it.  I'll stick with The Fifth Element and Resident Evil (and Dummy).

Sondre Lerche - Minor Detail

I cannot get enough.  His music makes me feel better.  It'll get you too.
